In a project initiated by General Motors, Veolia Environnement and partners Clairvoyant Energy installed a photovoltaic solar power station with a capacity of 12 MW on the roof of the car manufacturer's plant near Zaragoza, Spain. This power station produces 15.1million KWh per year, which is the equivalent to the electricty needs of 4,600 homes. Today the plant feeds electrical current into the local grid and sells the electricity to Endesa, the electricity distributor, under a 25 year contract.
